Phoenix is an awesome place. I know people make fun of the constantly changing roads, the "fake" downtown that isn't really a downtown (or so the locals say), and the heat... but I really enjoy going to Arizona. The people are friendly, the sun is (almost) always shining, and it's like Las Vegas -- everything looks brand-spankin'-new!
CKC was amazing - those CK events women work so darned hard to put on a great show. I love seeing them and chatting and catching up on what's happened since the last show. And the other CK instructors are always amazing. This time, I got a quick chat in with the adorable Maggie Holmes
and met the talented Kim Kesti
for the first time. I also sat in on Cathy Z's "Connect with Cathy" class, which was basically a stand-up routine set to slides and music, with some scrapbooking goodies thrown in for good measure!
Classes were fun -- I taught some oldies but goodies (make sure to take the home album class if you are ever at a CKC -- Elizabeth Dillow designed it, and it is one of my favorites) as well as a new one, Flocked and Fabulous, which my classes immediately re-dubbed, "Flock U." My kinda gals!). The hardest part was teaching from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM (and then going over to the crop -- I just can't bag on everyone!). I handed out Pixie Stix this trip, but they didn't go over as well as the chocolates do -- so I'm back to good ole' Ghirardelli next time 'round.
Easy flights, fun hanging with Kimberly Kwan (another separate post on that tomorrow), dinner with Dedra Long (who just got a super cool job at scrapbook.com!) and Noell Hyman (of Paperclipping fame) at the Hard Rock, and that wrapped up yet another show. Oh, of course, I did a wee bit o' shopping. It wouldn't be CKC if I didn't shop!
Sounds like fun. Chocolate rocks, but you have to love the classic candy Pixie Stix! Instant sugar buzz!
We need a CK event in Indianapolis!

Hey you, cutie! Thanks for the shout out. I had a grand ole time at CKC - it was so awesome to meet you and your ruffly apron. My last CKC for the year is Kansas City - so we may not touch base for a bit. Hugs!

Flock you? I love it! I bet that was a great class.
You know, it never occurred to me until reading your first paragraph how much there really is to make fun of about my hometown, lol. And you didn't even include the great "wall o' dust" (as Dedra puts it) that swept around you as you waited for us to pick you up.
=)
