Why oh why is the US Mint attempting the dollar coin once again?
The Susan B. Anthony debacle wasn't enough.
The failure of the Sacagawea dollar coin to gain the expected popularity wasn't enough.
They're going back for more punishment -- at our expense.
When will the good folks at the Mint just admit that they get tired of making the same handful of coins (no pun intended!) day in and day out, and just want a change?
Maybe the Mint should adopt the Yu-Gi-Oh principle... make new cards coming out all the time that trump the old ones, so people HAVE to change. "I'm sorry, sir, you owe me more money. I have the Magic Card that makes all pre-2005, F-series bills lose half their buying power. Unless, of course, you have an Equip Card that will work with your 1999 state quarter. Then you can send my Magic Card to the graveyard."
Or we could just chuck it all and go to the Euro.
Just a thought.
