While I am a person of good humor (in general!) there are still certain tasks I dislike. I thought I'd make a list and then we can compare! (And maybe there's someone who would like to take a few of these off my hands -- we can swap! Haha!).
1. Calling people. I HATE CALLING PEOPLE ON THE PHONE. I'm not a big phone talker. I'm such a visual person it's hard for me to concentrate when I'm just talking. But I absolutely HATE calling people -- even doctors' offices, customer service lines, and other people whose job it is to answer the phone. As Part B of this, I hate checking messages on my phone.
2. Putting away laundry. I don't mind sorting, washing, and drying, and folding it. But I hate putting it away.
3. Putting away the dishes. Do you see a theme here?
4. Standing in line at the post office. I don't mind going to the automated machine, but I hate waiting for counter service.
5. Paying bills. I have this thing about actually sitting down and writing the checks, even if I have the money. Of everything on my list, this is the one I'm working on. I'm getting better, but there is plenty of room for improvement.
I don't have any great insight to offer here. Maybe you do? Tell me, what does this list mean about me? Am I pathological? Strange? Absolutely normal? Anti-social? Not sure. ;)

Hi Lain - Are you really up at 2 am or do you have the post set up to come up at 2 am? Or are you like me - this is the only "clear time for mom" ?

*lol* Actually I think you're pretty normal.. I really HATE calling people, too! Even the pizza service *lol* So I can understand that pretty well...and everything else, too, especially the post office thing! It's always crowded when I get there... So don't worry and relax ;)

Ditto on the lol! : ) I hate calling people too, I always have. In fact, right now I am procrastinating that "chore".

Heh - your list means you're 100% normal. I hate all those things, too. :-)

I sure hope you are normal! I hate, hate calling people, going to the post office, and dishes. I have to do two of the three today :(

I hate calling on the phone. What is that? My husband often shakes his head and teasingly asks, "How is it that you could manage hundreds of employees once upon a time, but you cannot order a pizza or get someone over to fix the kitchen sink?" If only I could use e-mail to do these things, it would be done already.

If you had stopped after #3 I would have thought I wrote it myself. The other two don't bother me that much, mostly because I don't do them that often.

I think we were separated at birth. Seriously. This is exactly my list. Exactly.
:)
Maybe it's the name similarity.

Wow! I have the same list. LOL.

I think my 1,2,and 3 would be the same as yours. My husband always asks me to call places for him. My reply is always the same. "you know I hate talking to people on the phone!!".
As for putting things away, laundry is the absolute worst. If only we could live out of baskets.

I agree with your list, some things more than others... but the task I really dread is going grocery shopping. I am not the cook of the house, my husband is, yes! yes! yes! I count my blessing everyday for that! ;) But that does not get me out of having to get the groceries. I especially hate the days I have to go to Costco or Sam’s Club by myself. By the time I am ready to check out, I can barely push the cart and I still have to get it to the car, load and later unload at home. Oh, and lets not forget (and here is where I find similarities in our dislikes) I HAVE TO PUT IT AWAY! The one thing that keeps me going is knowing that I will be eating really great food thanks to the great cook in the house.

I'm so glad to hear that my dislike of the phone is not abnormal! Or at least I'm one of the many abnormal people who hate talking on the phone! I'm a teacher, and every year I tell myself that I will be better about calling parents...it never happens. Thank goodness more of them are contacting me online...that I can do!

So funny...quite of few of those are my dislikes also. And from scrolling through the comments, so does everybody else! It must be a creative person thing. =) I love to talk, but don't like making phone calls. I don't mind loading the dishwasher, but can't stand unloading it. I have a hard time spending money, even when I have it.
So, relax, Lain...you're normal!
p.s. do on-line bill pay so you don't have to write checks ;)

I just have to say I am oh so happy to hear I'm not quite as weird as my husband thinks I am. I can't stand to call people. I do it at work just fine, but if I have to call anybody in real life, forget it - especially appointments of any kind - even pizza, like Sandra said. Phew! And the waiting in line at the post office thing...I live on the fringes of civilization, so turning right takes me to Target, grocery stores, Costco, gas, banks, and the busy post office. Turning left takes me to this sleepy little town on the way to nowhere, but I get a private post office. And a quiet (though very small) library. I'd rather drive 20 minutes out of my way to get the easy post office experience!

I hate calling people too!! I mean, I don't mind talking on the phone to friends and family, but I hate calling them for fear I'm going to disturb or annoy them! But even more I despise calling people I DON'T know (aforementioned doctors offices, etc.) I think I have a fear of looking/sounding/being stupid and/or being made fun of. I shouldn't care so much about what complete strangers think of me, but I guess I do!

I don't hate calling people - I guess that's because my husband hates is so much that no calls would be made if I didn't make them.
I will make a post on my blog for the laundry list of things I hate to do. Good idea!

OMG I hate the phone too - email and text messaging is so much easier

I am completely with you on #1, and it has gotten even worse with three, never-silent children to make the whole ordeal even more challenging. Consequently, I procrastinate to great lengths on anything that requires a phone call being made!
